Most compulsive actions are related to tidiness, cleanliness and security. Compulsive rituals are ineffective attempts to avert danger. Compulsive thoughts are experienced as pointless, frightening or torturing. Thoughts, imaginations or impulses repeat themselves in an unpleasant manner. Due to inability of making decisions in everyday life and through hours of occupation with rituals, compulsions can lead to invalidity.
